Dr. James Yoo has 10 years of experience in vision and eye care. He thrives on solving difficult visual cases and is genuinely eager to help his patients understand what is going on with their eyes.
From a young age Dr. Yoo always knew he wanted to become an optometrist. At the age of 7, he was the pitcher for his little league baseball team and noticed that it was getting hard for him to see while he played. After getting an eye exam, he was so excited to see clearly with his first pair of glasses. As he continued to see his eye doctor for annual eye exams, he knew he wanted to help others see their best just like his optometrist.
Dr. Yoo was awarded the dean’s honor’s list multiple times before graduating from the University of California, Irvine in 2001. He then received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2005. He held internships at the Naval Base located in Yokosuka, Japan, the University Eye Center at Los Angeles, and the Low Vision Clinic in Santa Monica.
His special interests include sports vision therapy as well as co-management of LASIK and cataract surgeries. He is happy to be working with his wife Dr. Sarah Lee at Oaks Optometric Center.
